Owing to this reason, millions of Americans who love the NFL won’t be able to watch their stars in live action. The nationwide blackouts are set to affect nearly 10 million DirecTV subscribers as the 104th edition of NFL gets underway.

The impasse between Nexstar Media Group and DirecTV has led to several blackouts. Nexstar currently owns over 150 local TV stations across the country. Now the company’s satellite television provider DirecTV not coming to a newfangled carriage agreement. This implies that Nexstar channels will be undergoing blackouts.

Nexstar owns an impressionable portfolio. It comprises leading primary network affiliates such as ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, and the CW. With the NFL also being streamed on NBC, viewers watching the game on that specific channel might face blackouts. With the media rights war not subduing anytime soon, it could be fatal for NFL lovers. Football aficionados might have to look for alternatives as Cheifs and Lions lock horns!
