Arizona Cardinals are in need of their QB Kyler Murray and want him retained before any trade deal makes a headway. In the latest press conference, Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury expressed his desire to retain the QB. he explains the role Murray plays in the franchise.

In addition, on potentially getting a massive paycheck for his retention, the HC expressed his concerns as well. He said, “He is the leader of this franchise and we’re about to make him. I’m sure the highest paid player in franchise history. He understands what comes with that and the guys know what he can be at his best.” 

As Kyler Murray missed the Cardinals’ voluntary OTAs, rumors revolved around like wildfire. Many NFL analysts speculated that the reason for not attending the OTAs could be potential trade talks. The case is synonymous with that of Lamar Jackson.

The retention of Kyler Murray

A potential contract extension for Murray with the Arizona Cardinals could end up being for $280 million. Alongside, analysts have projected the QBs extension with Arizona to be for six years, with $155 million guaranteed.

Moreover, Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger remarked, “Murray has earned the highest PFF grade on throws of 20-plus yards in the NFL over the last two seasons with a 98.8 mark; the Brown addition will go a long way in continuing that trend.”

Additionally, with this deal, Kyler would become one of the highest-paid players in Cardinals‘ history.

Kyler Murray’s stats for the Cardinals

From 2019 to 2021, Murray’s record in the NFL has been nothing short of a crown jewel for the Cardinals. Furthermore, in his career with Arizona, he has scored 70 touchdowns and 34 interceptions. He recorded his career-best figures in the NFL 2020 season with 26 touchdowns.
