Every year the NFL combine tends to spark debate about the most appealing prospects out there. This year was no different as the name Bryce Young constantly made itself known. The former Alabama quarterback is touted to be the next big thing in the NFL, being one of the most decorated prospects out there. However, recently, fans caught the youngster red-handed playing a game, not football.

In addition to being the Heisman Trophy winner, he was also the recipient of the SEC Offensive Player of the Year in 2021. The  No 1-ranked player by Scouts Inc boasts an impressive college career throwing for 79 touchdowns with 12 interceptions, all while putting up an impressive 24-3 record in his two seasons.

The only question mark for Bryce Young

Young’s skills have never been a matter of concern, but his stature has been a constant topic of discussion for the NFL community. Being listed at only six feet, the prospect has been answering questions about this for as long as he can remember. He is yet to be measured officially at the NFL Combine, but the results have already been anticipated.

Many within the league have expressed concerns over Young’s durability, as he was sidelined last season with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder.

A recent instance of Bryce Young enjoying a cerebral game of chess went viral on social media. The picture caught a number of eyes, but for all the wrong reasons.

Many fans unanimously pointed out the slight elevation in his shoes, having a field day with their quips.

One user expressed his disbelief over the ‘lifts’

While another asked, “Are those wedges?”.

Another user just added to the series of remarks.

Someone however tried making sense of the situation.

Another explained the sponsorship that comes along with the combine.

Young’s shoes definitely ended up uniting NFL Twitter for once.

Heart over height

With a high-contact sport like football, Bryce Young would have to adjust. He would have to find a way to be effective despite his comparatively small size.

The man is, however, quite accustomed to carrying his own weight on the field and said, “I’ve been this size, respectfully, my whole life, I know who I am, I know what I can do. For me, it’s fair, everyone can speculate, ask me every question. I’m going to continue to control what I can control, continue to keep working my hardest. … I’m confident in myself. I know what I can do.”

Young’s size did not stop him from succeeding in Alabama, and the prospect is expecting similar results in the NFL.
