Buccaneers’ quarterback and NFL legend Tom Brady’s life this season has been a roller coaster journey. From relationship issues to a dampened performance on the field, everything seems to be going wrong for him. And it definitely did not help when he went into a rampage at the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. His outburst at the offensive linesmen, and the F-bombs he dropped, were promptly caught on camera and were broadcasted to the world. And one person watching the outburst was former Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger.

On his ‘Footbahlin’ podcast, Roethlisberger said, “It didn’t look like he wanted to be out there. Maybe it was the pressure, and he was getting hit and whatever was going on. At one point, I looked down there and said, ‘There’s no way he’s enjoying this. No way.’ It just didn’t look fun for him. It just looked like a different Tom.” While many fans agreed with Roethlisberger’s assessment, one person staunchly opposes it: Tom Brady.

At the Buccaneers’ press conference, a reporter asked Brady about his thoughts on Roethlisberger’s comments. Brady said, “You know, I think anytime you lose, it’s not very fun for any of us. I think we’ve just got to play better. I think that’s the reality to solving a lot of issues is to play better and to win. And yeah, I’ve definitely been a part of seasons where we have not played as well as we’re capable, and I don’t think it’s as enjoyable for anyone.”

It is no longer just speculation that the Buccaneers are struggling. They’ve lost 3 of their last 4 games, including one to a 1-4 Pittsburgh Steelers. And the problems seem to mainly stem from Tom Brady. His numbers this season have been disappointing, at best. Lower red zone conversions, and lower touchdowns, all contributed to lower points scored per game for the Bucs. It seems that finally, Brady’s personal life is influencing his game. Or maybe his age is finally catching up. Is immortal Brady no longer immortal?

Brady and the Bucs have an opportunity at hand, though not a very enticing one. Their next game is against a 1-5 Carolina Panthers. On paper, this should be an easy win for the Bucs, but they know not to be fooled. The Panthers are on a losing streak, yes, but they will not go down that easily.

The Bucs will have to make sure they win here. It may not mean much, but it is far better than if they lose. A loss here could be deadly for their morale, and might just prompt teams to disregard them as a genuine threat. Does Brady have any new tricks up his sleeve, to help resuscitate the Bucs’ season? Or what is presumably his last season, will end in colossal despair?
