The Baltimore Ravens took on the Cincinnati Bengals in a mouthwatering clash in the NFL wildcard playoff. But a key player from the Ravens squad was missing from the game. QB Lamar Jackson is still sidelined with a knee injury. The NFL world reacted to him missing the Cincinnati flight after the Ravens crashed out of the postseason.
Playing against the Bengals at the Paycor Stadium was always going to be an uphill battle. And the Ravens must surely have missed their signal caller in such a crunch game.

The NFL world threw its full weight behind the injured Ravens QB Lamar Jackson. Former NFL QB Robert Griffin III gave anyone asking him to play through injury an earful. “Anyone saying Lamar Jackson should just “brace it up and go play” REGARDLESS of the extent of his knee injury needs to get their head out of their a**,” Griffin tweeted before the game.
The fans largely backed his views. Some said they were happy that Jackson is listening to the doctors. Others accused anyone with such thoughts of being illogical. The Houston Texans insider Patrick Creighton had this to say to such people.
Jeopardize his whole career and $200M+ in potential earnings to play one game for a team who’s management/owner refuse to commit to him? pic.twitter.com/TIYaj181l1

This fan believes no game is worth risking the whole career.
naw….not with a knee injury. No playoff game is worth risking his future.

Another fan is happy that Jackson is listening to doctors and not impatient fans.
Nurse here… these are the same people that got their “medical degree” from webMD and try to tell me how to do my job. So happy Lamar is listening to the TRAINED LICENSED MEDICAL TEAM. 🙏🏼

For this user, the average sports fan is not logical.
The average sports fan isn’t logical. Most people think their opinions are justified because professional athletes make a lot of money. I’m sure Lamar Jackson wants to play and wants to win. I’m also pretty sure that Lamar Jackson knows his body and what decisions he should make.

This fan knows that the players are not video game characters.
100%. Too many fans think the players they see on the NFL fields are the same characters they play on video game systems. They are not looked at as an individual, more so an object for their entertainment

Another fan gives an earful to all such fans who wanted Jackson to play with an injury.
Deep from out of their a**. If I had his ear he would've been shut down much earlier.

Jackson suffered a grade two PCL sprain in week 13 and missed the final five games of the regular season. He is also in the midst of contract extension negotiations. So, a section of fans believed the QB didn’t play because he wasn’t happy about the contract situation. But playing through an injury is never a good idea, anyway.
Whatever might be the case, the Ravens missed him dearly, as Tyler Huntley failed to take them over the line against the Bengals.

The Ravens crash out
The Ravens went in with third-year QB Tyler Huntley in Lamar Jackson’s absence. But he could not help the team beat the Bengals. The game was tighter than many expected as the teams finished the third quarter, all square with 17 points each. It was the fourth quarter that made the difference.
Joe Burrow and the Bengals scored in the fourth quarter through a 98-yard fumble return by Sam Hubbard. And then the defense survived some late scare from Huntley to book their place in the divisional round of the playoffs.
