These practice sessions had Slay and Brown matched together. He managed to learn some of the Steelers’ tendencies. Slay also observed the Steelers’ tendency of sending receivers on go routes.
In preparation for the Eagles’ recent game against the Steelers, Slay observed the tendencies he had previously noted while watching Diontae Johnson on tape.
Slay stated, “Every time he came over there, I had in my mind, ‘You are like the new AB right now. You’re going deep, for sure.’ I’m gonna be a short to deep guy this week. As I’m going out there approaching the field, that’s how I played it.”
Slay went into the match with the right idea in mind. It seems like those practice sessions with AB paid off.
The current situation
Darius Slay is having a spectacular season. The cornerback is currently on the field ‘slaying,’ with the Eagles at a remarkable 7-0. On the other hand, resident troublemaker AB has been hopping in and out of controversies. Most recently, Brown received backlash for taking a shot at former teammate Tom Brady. AB sold t-shirts printed with a picture of himself and Bundchen amid Tom Brady’s tumultuous relationship.
