When we talk about the most controversial NFL athletes ever: Antonio Brown deserves a spot on that list. Back in 2019, Brown’s NFL career stood in jeopardy as his relations with the Las Vegas Raiders continued getting worse. First Brown found himself sidelined due to frostbites, then followed the infamous helmet incident, and to make matters worse Brown refused to actively participate in practices.

The relationship took a bitter turn as Brown found himself in a verbal altercation with the Raiders GM Mike Mayock who fined him $54,000 at the time. Thankfully Tom Brady came in and snuck Brown out of Vegas, recruiting him to the Patriots and then to the Buccs in 2020. However, Brady is not the only top-tier QB that Brown had a seemingly perfect partnership with. His tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers was an equally impactful time, but even those relationships soured to a certain degree.

The fallout happened back in 2019, as Ben Roethlisberger criticized Brown’s route-running. Brown wasn’t very welcoming of the subtle jab and expressed his displeasure at Ben. Speaking to NBC Sports’ Michele Tafoya on Saturday Night Football, Roethlisberger pressed his regret, “I wish I wouldn’t have done it, Because we saw what happened, and obviously, it ruined a friendship,

While Antonio Brown might have been pissed off at Roethlisberger at the time, he still appreciates his greatness. During a recent interaction, Brown was asked about the most underrated player he ever played with and his response reminded Steelers fans of their glory days.

Underrated player I played with, that deserves more love. Probably Big Ben” responded Brown while casually getting his hair done.

Antonio Brown’s response certainly reminded most loyal Steelers fans of their hay day, as their offense consisted of the Killer B’s, and there wasn’t a quarterback-wide receiver tandem as electric as the one at Heinz Field. With the passing years, people have certainly hoped for Brown and Roethlisberger to remedy the relationship and maybe the two have.

Regret hits hard

During his appearance on 97.3 The Fan, Brown recalled the memories he had as a Steeler, “I’m forever grateful and indebted to the Steelers’ organization. Mr. Rooney, Mike Tomlin, Kevin Colbert, Ben Roethlisberger. I started my career with those guys. A lot of beautiful moments, lot of positive things, so it’s not all bad.

Brown continued sharing his thoughts and had this to say about Roethlisberger, “Do I hate Ben? No. Do I love Ben? Yes. Ben’s a great guy, great person, great quarterback. All the frustration we had could have been hashed out.
