Despite his controversial lifestyle, Antonio Brown was one of the best WRs during his time in the NFL. After being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2010, AB went on to become a formidable offensive weapon for the team. He became the fourth receiver in NFL history to catch 110 passes or more in consecutive seasons. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers then went on to sign Brown in 2020 as one of Tom Brady’s pass-catchers on the field. And after winning the Super Bowl, the team decided to sign Brown to a new deal in 2021.

But despite winning the Super Bowl, Antonio Brown was not happy about the money that he was being paid by the Bucs for the value that he brought on the field. And he recently opened up about the discrepancy in the deal offered to him and the amount NFL GOAT Tom Brady was being paid by the team that has a net worth of $3.68 billion.

The ex-NFL star recently appeared on Tyreek Hill’s podcast as a guest. During the conversations, Brown opened up about his experience when he joined the Buccaneers and also about the deal that he was offered by the team, which seemed to be a “low deal”, according to the former WR.

Brown re-signed with the Buccaneers after winning the Super Bowl with Brady. Brady received a one-year $15 million contract for his 23rd season in the NFL.  On the other hand, Brown’s deal was a one-year $3.1 million contract, which included around $916,000 in base salary, $2 million in signing bonus, and more than $370,000 in roster bonus. The WR was not happy with the contract offer, as he felt that the team was lowballing his worth on the field. During the podcast, AB said, “And then I’m here the last one getting signed for like a low deal like I already played eight games for like a million dollars.” He further said, “That’s like some hocus pocus like this just happened. So I was grateful but it was like, I don’t think they was really grateful for me.”

The controversial WR made headlines when he left the field in the middle of the match during their away game against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium in 2022. He removed his jersey and gear and then threw them into the stands before disappearing into the tunnel in the third quarter of the match. He then went on to accuse the team of forcing him to play through an ankle injury that required surgery for recovery. But after the allegations, the Bucs went on to terminate his contract and release the WR from the roster. And ever since, Antonio Brown has not played in the NFL.
