Rita Smith spoke to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com in the wake of Deshaun Watson’s suspension period getting a raise. Rita Smith spoke during a telephonic conversation on Friday, “I feel like he’s playing us. He’s saying exactly what he thinks he needs to say to get on the field again. He’s not thinking strategically at all about ‘Did I cause harm to other people?’ He’s not questioning any of his behaviors at all. He’s absolutely certain from that last statement ‘I’ve done nothing wrong. This is all about people trying to get at me, and I just want to go play ball.’”

Smith further claimed that such intensity is not conducive to future recidivism, and he remains a danger to others. The senior NFL advisor further called that he had done practically no self-reflection. There aren’t too many breaches recorded by people who aren’t doing anything unlawful.
Deshaun Watson initially received a six-game suspension. But the NFL appealed the case for a stringent punishment, which led to the 11-game ban and a $5 Million fine. He could be back in Week 13 when the team is en route to Houston.

The All-Pro Guard mentioned that the team got booed less when Deshaun left the game. But if they go to an away game, they boo you anyway. However, he believes the scenario will be “Cleveland versus the World,” and they will prepare accordingly.
