Jimmy Garoppolo is getting ready to return to the San Francisco 49ers starting line-up after spending two weeks on the sidelines. After a bright outing with the Red and Gold in 2019, Garoppolo will be eager to build on that display in 2020.

Head Coach Kyle Shanahan was adamant that Jimmy G is the ‘undoubted’ starter for his team. Backup quarterbacks Nick Mullens and CJ Beathard featured for the 49ers over the last two weeks.

However, Garoppolo will now return to the fray as the Red and Gold gear up for a tough season in the coming months.

Jimmy Garoppolo eagerly looking forward to Miami Dolphins clash

Jimmy Garoppolo has endured a tough start to his 2020 NFL season with the 49ers. Last year’s Super Bowl runner-ups opened their 2020 NFL campaign with a shock loss to Kyler Murray’s Arizona Cardinals in Week One.

They bounced back with a win against the New York Jets a week later at the cost of losing multiple players to long-term injuries; Garoppolo himself suffered a high ankle sprain during the game.

He was sidelined for two weeks, during which the 49ers won one game and lost another. Garoppolo is set to return to the starting lineup as the 49ers take on the Miami Dolphins in Week Five.

“Ankle is feeling really good right now. Got the last couple of weeks off to get it right. The training staff, I tip my hat to those guys, they did a great job with me, just preparing me and everything.

“But, as far as getting out there, I mean, we’ve had the whole week to work on it. So, it’s feeling pretty good right now.

“Yeah, it was, I’ve had normal ankle sprains, never had a high ankle sprain. So, this was a first and I kind of just thought it was going to be like a normal ankle sprain that I could come back and just trying to get myself mentally prepared each week.

“So, I was kind of talking to myself, telling myself, ‘Hey, I could play this week. I’ll be all right.’ And just, it took a little time, but I’m glad to be back out there with the guys. It feels great,” Garoppolo told the team’s official website.

Jimmy G wishes teammate George Kittle on his 27th birthday

The former New England Patriots man also spoke about teammate and good friend, George Kittle, during a recent interview. The NFL’s highest-paid quarterback turned 27 on October 9th, 2020.

He said, “Well, I’ll start with George. Happy birthday, George. I’m sure everyone knows about it, but we had some t-shirts made. I didn’t want to wear that one on here.

“I thought I’d go with this with the election coming up, tell everyone to go out and vote for us. It was a fun day for George’s birthday for sure. B’s been awesome. He really has.

“He’s really starting to catch onto the offense and learning how it all ties together, whether his route is the main route or he’s trying to help one of his fellow teammates out.

“I think it’s just, all rookies go through that learning phase and he’s grinding through it right now, but he’s been impressive. He’s made a lot of plays out there for us,” Garoppolo added.

The Red and Gold are running on a 2-2 record at the moment. They will be playing the Ryan Fitzpatrick-led Miami Dolphins on Sunday at the Levi’s Stadium. Garoppolo will be eager to get back to winning ways, especially after last week’s dismal loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
