It is not unusual for teams to have live mascots in the NFL. A mascot helps a team tell its story and history and helps unite the fanbase across all ages. But teams such as the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks have real animals who serve as their live mascots in the stadium. The Broncos have had four Arabian horses that have opened each home game. And each horse has been bestowed with the name ‘Thunder’. For the Seahawks, it has been a species of bird known as the Agur Buzzard. And fans have affectionately named it Taima.
And recently, another $3 billion team in the NFL has ideated to have a live lion presence in their home stadium. But this request is not like all the other live animals we’ve seen in the NFL so far and stands out as quite an unusual request.

Last season, the Detroit Lions managed a 9-3 season, nearly missing out on playing in the playoffs. And now, they are scheduled to take on the Super Bowl LVII winners, the Kansas City Chiefs at the Arrowhead Stadium, as their first game of the upcoming season. While the Lions will look to prepare for such a high-level matchup at the beginning of the season, HC Dan Campbell had a very peculiar idea.
THE NO FUN LEAGUE:
Detroit #Lions head coach Dan Campbell said owner Sheila Ford Hamp was good with his idea to have a LIVE LION on the sideline, but the league office was not.

During a recent interview on Pardon My Take, Campbell talked about how he wanted to bring a live lion to the team’s home games. It was a proposal he has been making ever since joining in 2020. The HC talked about how the team owner Sheila Hamp Ford does not object to this idea. But it is rather the league that feels that this might be too big of a stretch. Back in 2021, the 47-year-old also talked about how PETA might not allow such a decision to come into effect.
While this unusual request might never come to fruition in the league, retired NFL GOAT Tom Brady recently had his own adventurous encounter with this majestic wild animal.

Tom Brady faces off with the king of the jungle
The 45-year-old 7X SB champion has been spending a lot of time with his children after hanging up his cleats. After going on an epic Europe vacation as a part of his children’s summer vacation, Tom Brady is now out on an epic safari adventure, encountering various wildlife. It seems that only his daughter, Vivian, has joined him on this safari, as his other two sons have not made an appearance on his Instagram stories. The 45-year-old took to social media to share majestic snaps of lions, who roam around as the undisputed king of the jungle. Tom Brady also shared stories of his daughter, who was seen feeding a little bird, that approached their table.
While the NFL GOAT enjoys his safari adventures amidst the majestic wildlife, the Detroit Lions’ hope of having the king of the jungle on the sidelines might just remain a distant dream. Do you think it is safe to have a lion on the football field?
