Amidst Reports of Another Major Scandal, Looking Back at Brett Favre’s History of Making News for the Wrong Reasons

Brett Favre is one such icon who has significant importance in the NFL. His time in the Green Bay Packers was the most prominent feature of his NFL career. Although, the Gunslinger has surrounded some legal troubles in the past. One of them is related to a scam that is currently going on.

In a complaint filed in May, the Mississippi Department of Human Services cited HOF QB, Brett Favre. The administration is aiming to retrieve the welfare funds that were spent inappropriately. The scandal is worth $94 million and involves Favre and other plaintiffs in the complaint.

As per si.com, Favre allegedly used “special access” to Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and other individuals to get millions of dollars for groups he favored. Mississippi’s overall welfare problem is still under investigation. But they purportedly linked at least $8 million to Favre’s activities. The reports also accuse the HOF QB of keeping $1.1 million from the welfare funding.

To give some clarification to the situation, the former Packers quarterback mentioned he has already repaid the money he got as a spokesperson for the Families First program.

According to Yahoo! Sports, the HOF QB is among the 38 defendants in the lawsuit. Others include ex-wrestlers Brett and Ted DiBiase along with their father, ‘The Million Dollar Man’ Ted DiBiase Sr.

Brett Favre had a classic career with the Green Bay Packers. However, he was into a legion of controversies during his playing career. It began with the situation with Ex-NFL host Jen Sterger. She accused Favre of sending her indecent images in 2010. Back then, he was the quarterback of the New York Jets. The NFL fined Favre $50k after he did not cooperate during the investigation process.

One of the QB’s infamous comments saying it is not his job to get Aaron Rodgers ready to play also faced some dispute. Moreover, Brett Favre also toiled with the fans’ emotions after famously retiring and then returning to the game. He first announced it in March 2008 but backed out in July. Favre declared his second retirement as the Jets QB, citing a shoulder issue. But he changed his mind and joined the Vikings. The fans were not pleased since they were tired of the fallacy farewells.

Indeed, Favre is one of the bona fide NFL greats. But he had a turbulent time surrounding controversies.
