The mountain of hatred for Russell Wilson keeps growing taller every day. A different aspect of the Broncos QB is targeted every time. From his curated brand image to how he associates himself more with the management than with players, or even his relationship with superstar wife Ciara, nothing goes under the radar. But ever since his depressing debut with the Broncos, keyboard warriors have been out for blood.

While some feel the criticism may be justified, others believe most of it is unfair. However, being the person that he is, Wilson takes it in stride. If anything, he uses the dirt thrown at him to motivate himself to do better. He recently took to Instagram to shame his haters.

A hater is somebody that ain’t even in the game. A hater is somebody that don’t do what you do but still wake up everyday and speak about how you do what you do,” a reel which the QB shared on his Instagram story proclaimed. With this statement, he wants to silence all the hate coming from self-proclaimed masters of the game.

There is no arguing the fact that Wilson tanked as a quarterback in 2022. After a blockbuster deal that saw him switch over from the Seattle Seahawks, the Broncos debut was the worst season of his career. The hyped-up QB threw 11 interceptions while throwing for just 16 touchdowns. Denver ended up at the bottom of the AFC West. Wilson seemed to be a shell of his former Seahawks self.

Last season, Geno Smith, who interestingly replaced Wilson as the Seahawks’ QB won the CPOY Award. But fans were not exactly sold on what he had come back from. He had had a terrific season with the Seahawks, no doubt, but he had not come back from any major injury or a particularly poor performance prior to 2022.

Considering this, if the Broncos QB does well going forward, Wilson certainly will be a serious contender for the prize. It must be remembered that last season was an exception and not the norm. During his time with the Seahawks, he led the team to two Super Bowls in his first three seasons and caused a transformation of the franchise.

Critics say the player has a chip on his shoulder. The only effective way to silence the antipathy and disrespect is to start winning again. Not just single-digit wins, but he has to lead the Broncos to double-digit wins. Can their next match against the Miami Dolphins be a game-changer for Wilson and Co.?
