Despite bidding a farewell to his illustrious NFL career, Hall of Famer Cornerback Deion Sanders always happened to remain a star attraction in the media world. Recently, his relocation from Jackson State to Colorado Boulders created a lot of noise. However, civil rights activists like Al Sharpton justified his move by asking the fans to limit their criticisms.

Deion Sanders changed the entire landscape of HBCUs after he signed with Jackson State in 2020. Getting a head coach of his caliber was nearly impossible; however, Sanders made a historic move drastically changing the perspective of fans and coaching staff.

While many criticized him for his decision, few of them supported the move. The civil rights activist Al Sharpton happened to be one of them. He believes that a person needs to make personal choices at some point in his career.

“I think that a lot of us had such pride in him being at an HBCU that we forget that people make personal decisions. And they have the right to do that.” Sharpton said.

“He’s moved on, and I think that our job is to make sure that Jackson State and others continue at the same level,” he added, explaining the need to sustain the momentum. During his tenure of three years, he elevated the status of this university, helping them win back-to-back conference championships.

This year, JSU Tigers achieved their first-ever undefeated streak and surpassed their counterparts by a great margin. As a result, his sudden departure irked the fans, who called out the veteran and blamed him for abruptly leaving the community.
