Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, who had a sideline spat with Patrick Mahomes mid-season, has been on the lookout for the head coaching job for the second straight year. He helped the franchise reach their fourth AFC Championship Game in a row during his four seasons as an OC. This achievement makes his resume shine the brightest.

However, this is not the first time that Bieniemy is on the search for an HC job. He also tried the same last offseason. And just when everyone thought he would go without securing a spot even this time, the New Orleans Saints stepped up to ask him for a talk for their head coaching job, as reported by ESPN NFL reporter, Jeremy Fowler.

After Sean Payton stepped down as the head coach following a remarkable 15 years span with the franchise, the New Orleans Saints look for a replacement. Judging by the incredible resume of Bieniemy, he seems to be a strong contender for the job.

On one hand, Payton has led the Saints to a Super Bowl in 2009 during his tenure as the HC. Bieniemy, on the other hand, has led the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win in two visits during his four years as the OC. The leadership quality of the 52-year-old is so top-notch that even Patrick Mahomes vouches for him to be the best available contender.

Speaking of his relationship with the 27-year-old quarterback, the two were seen on a sideline spat during their matchup against the Broncos. It was quite a watch to see the two in a heated argument in Week 13.

However, when asked about it, Mahomes only showered praises for the OC. “We got a little frustration there,” Mahomes said. “But we talked it out right after and I mean, I love that dude. He loves me and we’ll keep rolling.”

In fact, the quarterback recently advocated for Bieniemy. “(Bieniemy’s) track record speaks for itself,” Mahomes said in a radio interview. “The type of man he is, the way he can control and be a leader of the locker room and the way that he coaches and schemes he brings to us. If he doesn’t (get a position as a head coach), people are crazy.”
