Aaron Rodgers is the definition of a tough cookie. Playing through the season with more than one injury, the four-time MVP is truly resilient. But, the NFL world was concerned that his resilience may be a little too extreme. Let’s not forget the fact that he was playing with a broken thumb. Although this is not his best season by a long shot, the quarterback has proven that he is as tough as ever.

After leaving the Packers’ games against the Eagles, it looked like the QB was going to be out for the rest of the season. But rib injuries weren’t going to stop him from coming back for their next game and beating their divisional rivals. Rodgers and the Packers got a much-needed 28-19 victory over the Chicago Bears. The athlete got through the game without showing signs of distress.
A chipper Aaron Rodgers is a good sign
Head coach Matt LaFleur states that he thought Rodgers held up nicely during the game. He added, “He seemed to be in great spirits after the game, which is always a good sign, and just my limited interaction with him today he seemed to be doing well.” Indeed, a chipper-looking A-Rod spoke to the press after the game. The quarterback was bound to be happy after a win over a divisional rival.

But, in Rodgers’ case prior to playing the Bears, the Packers only won seven of their last eight games. Their bye week will come in handy for the quarterback to rest and recuperate before taking on the Rams. Currently, the franchise’s postseason chances are a little too far away. At 5-8, behind the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions in the NFC North, even the biggest of improvements may not be enough to save their season. Rodgers has been playing with a thumb injury since the Packers’ Week 5 game against the Giants.

There’s no doubt he could use some time to focus on his well-being. If the Packers are eliminated from playoff contention, could Rodgers sit out the rest of the season and hand over the reins to Jordan Love? Love replaced the veteran during the Packers game against the Eagles when he [Rodgers] had to step out because of an injury to the ribs. According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, no decision has been made regarding this. Regardless, Aaron Rodgers and his team have their work cut out as prepare to finish the season and lay the foundation for what lies ahead.
