Believe half of what you see and nothing that you hear. That has been the mentality in Baltimore ever since Lamar Jackson demanded a trade from their franchise. Well, Ravens fans breathed an extended sigh of relief as they watched their quarterback sit between GM Eric DeCosta and HC John Harbaugh for his first press conference after the record-breaking contract extension. And it was all worth it. The Flock nation witnessed Action Jackson show off his love and dedication to the franchise both during and after the presser.

After partially convincing everyone in the media room that he didn’t really want to leave, LJ highlighted his true devotion to the Purple Rain when he shared an episode from the Ravens’ playoff game this year against AFC North rivals Cincinnati Bengals. This was the time when Lamar Jackson almost became a viral internet meme from his living room.

Lamar Jackson went on a mega rage and almost broke his TV

Action Jackson had a miraculous injury-free college career, having missed only one game as a freshman in Louisville because of an ankle injury. However, things changed in the NFL. In 2021, LJ missed all the games after Week 14 due to a Grade 2 pedal ankle sprain. Jackson started the 2022 season healthy and led the Baltimore Ravens to a winning 7-5 run before being sidelined for the last six games with a PCL knee sprain. This meant that Action Jackson would also miss the critical AFC Wildcard round playoff encounter against Joe Burrow’s Bengals.

Backup quarterback Tyler Huntley and the Ravens put up a valiant effort. However, the purple and black army came up short as the Bengals advanced to the divisional round after a 24-17 win. Safe to say that Lamar Jackson wasn’t exactly having the best time watching the game from home. LJ, who was only on limited bathroom breaks during the game, heard the Cincinnati crowd roaring, and he knew something was wrong.

I’m hearing aaaaaaahh. I rush back to the TV, I look and I’m sitting on the score like what. Almost broke my TV. I was gonna be one of those people. Then I thought that I gotta pay for that,” Jackson narrated his playoff viewing experience during his appearance on The Lounge podcast.

Well, that was a pre-extension Jackson. Surely, now, with his brand new 5-year $260 million extension, LJ won’t have to think twice before smashing a television or two.

Did Jackson contradict his own tweets from a month ago?

During the Ravens press meet, questions undoubtedly came up surrounding Lamar Jackson’s long-drawn negotiations, the non-exclusive franchise tag, and the trade request back in March this year. “As of March 2nd, I requested a trade from the Ravens organization,” he tweeted.

However, Jackson wanted bygones to be bygones. “Today we’re going to keep it about the future,” the dual-threat QB said. LJ also added that he always “wanted to be a Raven” and “didn’t care for other teams.”
