Tom Brady and his childhood were shaped around the San Francisco 49ers. However, this week’s visit to the Bay Area is no friendly tour for the seven-time Super Bowl champion. Tampa Tom and the Buccaneers travel to Santa Clara, California on Sunday with hopes of going higher than .500 for this season.
It’s going to be no easy task for Brady and the Bucs as they face a Niners defense that is the best in the league right now. And with Tom Brady’s depleted offensive line, the Tampa Bay quarterback can expect an array of blitzes and fierce pass-rushing in the pocket. However, TB12 has all the strategies in his mind.
Brady spoke to the press ahead of the clash between the NFC West and South divisional leaders. Tom Brady has seen the shortcomings in their offense and defense. This hasn’t allowed them to be at the level they wanted to be this season. “We gotta finish the halves well.”
“Got to be well in third down and we got to do well in the red area. Got to do well taking care of the football. And we gotta do well making people miss. We got to. All those things add up,” the 15x Pro Bowler and 5x Super Bowl MVP said.
The Buccaneers have been extra dependent on Tom Brady over the last few weeks
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat their divisional rivals, the New Orleans Saints, in a stunning comeback fashion. And it was none other than Tom Brady who engineered the game-winning drive. This was his 40th regular season last-minute winning drive.
Tom Terrific rescued the Buccaneers against the Los Angeles Rams in a similar fashion. The Super Bowl LVI champions were up until the 2-minute warning. However, TB12 took over and turned the result in his favor into the dying minutes.
O-linemen Ryan Jensen and Tristan Wirfs are on the injury reserve. And Buccaneers left tackle Donovan Smith is the only veteran protecting Brady. Previously, Dre Greenlaw, Jimmie Ward, and Nick Bosa’s Niners’ defense created a hostile situation for Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in the 33-17 win against Miami. And Tom Brady can expect a similar pressure situation come Sunday.
Brady and Co. will enjoy an edge on the offense against the San Francisco 49ers. After quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot in the Dolphins game and was ruled out of the season, rookie seventh-round draft pick Brock Purdy stepped in for the red and gold army. The Buccaneers’ offense ranks 19th in the league and has to show up with full force to take advantage of the 49ers.
