Patrick Mahomes enjoys his athletic genes from his father. Just like how he is dominating the NFL currently, his dad, Patrick Mahomes Sr was also a well-recognized pitcher in the MLB during his playing days. Despite his father’s wishes of seeing his son shine on the baseball field like himself, Mahomes Sr still continues to be proud of his son’s tremendous football achievements.

But because of the fame from his baseball career, Mahomes’ mother Randi Mahomes could not keep up with the athlete’s lifestyle, resulting in a divorce when the 2x Super Bowl champion was just 11 years old. But despite the divorce, Mahomes’ parents are still his biggest supporters, and one of his dad’s superstitious beliefs for his son’s success caught the attention of NFL fans.

Patrick Mahomes Sr has been in attendance at every game that his son has played in the NFL. As a father to one of the greatest QB in the league, Mahomes’ father is definitely proud when it comes to talking about his son’s achievements on the football field. And recently, he opened up about a particular superstition that he follows that he believes plays a role in the success of his son.

A few years ago, Mahomes Sr was interviewed by Fox4 where they interviewed him about how it is raising a star NFL son. During the interview, they talked about how he was also known for wearing the same clothes so that Patrick Mahomes could shine and continue his winning streak on the NFL field. Mahomes Sr went on to talk about how baseball players are generally superstitious, further saying, “Anything for a win, you know. Baseball players are superstitious. That’s how we are. And what I was working is working.”

Being the son of a baseball player, it should come as no surprise that Patrick Mahomes would also bring some superstitious beliefs into the NFL with him. Back in February, during a podcast with Adam Schefter, former QB backup of Mahomes Chad Henne opened up about a particular superstition that he’s seen the 2X Super Bowl champion regularly carry out. He said that Patrick Mahomes has worn the same pair of red underwear to every NFL game that he’s played so far. Just like his father, it seems that Mahomes believes in the power of superstition for his success in the NFL.

Whatever it may be, it is undeniable that the 27-year-old is already one of the greatest QBs to play in the league. And as time passes, fans will be waiting with excitement to see Mahomes carry on and bring in more Lombardi trophies for the Kansas City Chiefs. Maybe another Super Bowl season in 2023? Only time will tell. But hey, at least we will know that he has his lucky undergarment for good fortune.
