The New York Jets mean business and their 2023 offseason moves are plenty of proof of that. Ever since Aaron Rodgers expressed his desire of playing in a Jets uniform, the New York team has been busy tweaking its roster to perfection. Amongst those moves was the acquisition of former Kansas City Chiefs receiver Mecole Hardman.

Hardman’s addition certainly gives the Jets a boost in terms of speed, but the team is looking to buff up its catching abilities as well. After all, if you have A-Rod throwing the ball, then ideally you would want to make the best of it. Hence, comes the interest in Odell Beckham Jr. The Jets have been eyeing OBJ for a while now and Rodgers’ blessing seems to be the green light the Jets needed.

Odell Beckham sat out the entire 2022 season, healing from a torn ACL suffered during the 2021 Super Bowl game. Since then, the receiver has been released by the Las Angeles Rams and is free to join any team he desires. While Beckham eagerly tried garnering a new contract for himself, teams felt his ‘readiness’ to be a concern.

During his appearance on the Pat McAfee podcast, Aaron Rodgers said, “Who wouldn’t want Odell on their team?

Most in the league would agree with Rodgers’ evaluation, including his future home the New York Jets.

The Jets would need to go make sure that all the cogs fit together, especially the financial side of things. Speculations stated that Beckham might be seeking close to $20 million a year, which could potentially be out of the Jets’ cap space.

With both sides showing sufficient interest, the Jets could be the next landing spot for Odell Beckham Jr. and the New York fanbase is certainly delighted with these speculations.

Not every speculation and report in the NFL is reliable. However, there are certain NFL Insiders who enjoy the privilege of working with teams in close proximity. One such ESPN Insider shed some light on the matter.

During his appearance on Get Up, ESPN’s Jeff Darlington alluded to both OBJ and the New York Jets hoping for a deal.

He said, “Just because you see this wide receiver room continuing to shift does not mean that they are done work. We should very much consider Odell Beckham Jr. still on the table as an option for the New York Jets. In fact, we can go even further to say that both sides would still like to see this done. Financials are still in the way of actually finalizing this thing, but I still think that Odell Beckham Jr. will wind up with the New York Jets.”
