Kevin O’Connell wins PFT Coach of the week
ProFootballTalk has selected the Vikings HC Kevin O’Connell as the coach of the week after game week nine win against the Washington Commanders. This recognition is not only for his work in that game week, but a string of performances put up by the Vikings since the start of the season. It is clear by the tweet announcing the honor.
“Once is an accident. Twice is a trend. Six is a sign that someone is doing something right,” the tweet said.
The Vikings hired O’Connell at the start of the season after firing Mike Zimmer due to the disappointing 2021 season. And O’Connell has proved that they did not make a mistake. The team is on a roll since the start of the season and is currently on a six-game winning streak. Next, they take on other highflyers of the season, the Buffalo Bills.
The NFL world reacts to the honor
The NFL world praised Kevin O’Connell for the work he has put in, considering he did not have any head coaching experience prior to this. The former backup quarterback to NFL great Tom Brady has really come a long way. Here is how the fans reacted.
This fan thinks O’Connell is a close candidate for Coach of The Year.
Daboll is probably a cinch for it but O'Connell deserves a nod for being another close candidate for COTY.

A record to be proud of for O’Connell
Minnesota Vikings are the third team in NFL history to win six straight games by one score. Not a coincidence!
That’s the Kevin O’Connell difference. Here’s our two-parter at Go Long ahead of Bills/Vikings icymi: https://t.co/Drb8izdOO3

O’Connell held various positions as an assistant coach in various teams. He was the Offensive Coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams team that lifted the Super Bowl last season. At the start of the 2022 season, he was appointed the head coach of the Vikings. And at the end of week nine, the Vikings are 7-1 in the league. They sit at to top of their division.
