When a player is with a particular team, they take the rivalries very seriously. But sometimes things turn awkward when the same player goes to the same rivals that they once bashed. That is exactly what happened with JuJu Smith-Schuster. The explosive wide receiver broke his silence regarding the beef with the New England Patriots fans after signing a $33 million contract with the franchise.

The Patriots shared a meme depicting the change of attitude of their new signing JuJu Smith-Schuster towards their fanbase. While the post was surely a fun way to reduce the awkwardness around the situation, it certainly prompted the wide receiver to respond. And the way he handled it is also commendable.

“Much love to all Pats fans. Thank you for all the messages and welcoming me in despite our battles! And if someone could connect me to this fan, I’d love to send him a jersey,” Smith-Schuster said in a reply to the meme with a laughing emoji.

Why are Steelers and Patriots such big rivals?

The Steelers and the Patriots are the two most successful teams in NFL history. And their rivalry probably stems from this very fact. They aren’t in the same conference as the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys are. But their constant tussle for AFC supremacy made them into tough rivals.

While the Steelers won their sixth Super Bowl in 2009, the Patriots equaled the feat exactly a decade later. And the team from Foxborough repeatedly broke the Stealers hearts whenever they met in the playoffs. The Steelers have won just one of the five encounters, in the AFC divisional round of the 1997 season. Since then, they have lost three AFC championship games to them. So, it is a rivalry of pain and misery for them in the NFL.
