Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons stirred the NFL world recently when he heaped praise upon San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. Purdy, who emerged as an unexpected star last season, caught the attention of both fans and critics alike. Parsons, known for his fiery competitiveness, called Purdy a “top-15 quarterback” during his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons.

However, Micah Parsons’ praise for Purdy did not go well with NFL journalist Skip Bayless, a fervent Cowboys supporter. Bayless slammed Parsons for violating a sacred code of conduct, implying that a Cowboy should never praise an arch-rival’s signal-caller.

Earlier this week, Purdy got a shout-out from Parsons, who gushed on his podcast that if Purdy were to be ranked at this moment, he would be placed around the top-15 quarterback position, according to Parsons.

Skip Bayless, the outspoken host of Undisputed, didn’t mince words. He shot back, “Micah Parsons has a nemesis every year called the San Francisco 49ers. They have sent the Cowboys home two straight years. Last year, obviously, with Brock Purdy.” Remember last year’s heartbreak, courtesy of Brock Purdy?

He stressed that rocking the star of the Cowboys and leading the charge is Dak Prescott, a quarterback under massive scrutiny in the Lone Star State. “There’s an unwritten rule here, a locker room rule here, that you don’t rave about the quarterback of your arch-rival and nemesis. You just don’t do it. If I’m Dak Prescott, I don’t like it.” Skip Bayless stated.

In short, while Brock Purdy’s rise to NFL glory is undeniable, the firestorm sparked by Micah Parsons’ praise serves as a reminder of the intense rivalries that shape the league. However young Purdy’s dazzling climb began when he was picked by the 49ers as Mr. Irrelevant, the last selection in the 2022 NFL Draft.

This remarkable feat contributed hugely to the 49ers’ ten-game winning streak, ultimately clinching them a division title and a coveted spot in the NFC Championship Game. In doing so, Purdy became one of only five rookie quarterbacks in NFL history to lead in a conference championship game.

Adding to his legend, Purdy pulled off the unimaginable on December 11, when he steered the 49ers to a crushing 35–7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, a team led by the legendary Tom Brady. The 49ers, blown away by his performance, quickly dubbed him ‘Mr. Relevant’ in a celebratory tweet.
