On Tuesday, the NFL teams were supposed to finalize their trade deals, and 4:00 PM happened to be the deadline. Several athletes got the opportunity to relocate to their new franchises. However, few of them were left disappointed with failed trade attempts. One of them happens to be the Texans wideout Brandin Cooks who couldn’t make it and subsequently drew a reaction from Deshaun Watson.
The current Browns quarterback Watson and the veteran wide receiver Cook played for one season at Texans before paving their way to the Browns locker room. Thus, Watson knows what a great player Cooks is. In fact, the veteran happens to be an underdog who had 1000-plus yards in his six seasons in the NFL.

The only worry for him is that he has been stuck with one of the least-performing teams and feels that his abilities were not properly utilized. As a result, he requested a trade that couldn’t bear fruit until the deadline. Per reports, the Cowboys made every possible effort to acquire the passer. However, both sides couldn’t reach an agreement regarding his $18 million salary for 2023 and draft compensation.
Owing to his displeasure at learning that he was still on the Texans roster and couldn’t find a new landing spot, the star vented his anger on social media. He shot arrows at the franchise via Twitter for playing with his career.
“Don’t take a man’s kindness for granted. Having been covered for lies for far too long, those days have crossed the line by playing with my career.” he wrote. It took no time for this message to spread like a wildfire.

And eventually, his former quarterback caught the wind of it. Watson made a cryptic tweet filled with emojis, leaving the fans to ponder his reaction. After parting with Watson, Cooks spent two more seasons with the team. Out of 38 games, he registered 2,541 yards on 203 catches and 13 touchdowns.

While Cooks was unhappy about his failed trade, Watson had a sigh of relief after receiving a green signal to start games for the Cleveland Browns. After 700 days of waiting, the gunslinger will get to throw balls in a regular season game.
He was suspended for 11 games and fined $5 million. On November 14, he will be able to get along with the squad for combined practice sessions, and on December 4, his first game of the season. Surprisingly, it will be against his former team, Houston Texans.

“It’s been great to have him back in the building. He’s been focused on working on himself. He’s stayed in great shape.” Browns GM Andrew Berry said. It will be interesting to see who gets better off each other when Cooks will face his former QB on the opposite side of the field.
