The ‘Coach Prime’ era has kicked off in high regard at Colorado. The Buffaloes have cruised past two formidable opponents in their last two games in NCAA Football. After taking charge of the Buffaloes in last year’s December, Deion Sanders had to wait for 9 months for his home debut. But that has certainly paid off.
Although not entirely overwhelmed by the wins, Coach Prime is still looking for the bigger picture. In both games, the Buffaloes’ had a solid display full of confidence. But Sanders remains skeptical. Talking to the media after the Nebraska game, he pointed out the improvements that could still be made. Sanders has made it clear from the very beginning that he only cares about dominant victories, in every single game.

While the game with TCU Horned Frogs was a hard-fought one, Colorado drubbed Nebraska 36-14 in their next game. The sunny afternoon at Folsom Field saw the Buffaloes make easy work of the Cornhuskers. The home team never looked in real trouble for once, as the Cornhuskers couldn’t just settle into the game. After the back-to-back wins, the Buffaloes fans have been on a roll.
But Mr. Sanders himself? Well not so much, even though he pointed out what he exactly meant by a ‘dominant victory’. He cleared his vision in the press conference after the Nebraska game. “Started off slow, played like hot garbage in the first half”, Sanders said to one of the reporters, adding, “Hats off to the defense, how they were steadfast. Today they atoned for the disappointment that we were last week defensively. We still gave up a few plays.”
“It wasn’t about me, it was about the young men and what we possess”, He later added. “We didn’t just wanna win, we wanted to dominate. In the first half, we weren’t dominating.”
Sanders clearly isn’t taking things lightly and isn’t ready yet to let himself go with the flow. But he is also looking at the brighter side of it. He thanked the fans and revealed how grateful he was for the support and the crowd that filled the stadium. “We look for the smart, tough, fast, and disciplined young men to fill in our locker room and our rosters. And a majority of them feature several of those characteristics. I am proud of them that they don’t tire”, Sanders said talking about his team.
Buffaloes presents a cinematic highlight of Coach Prime’s debut
As a cherry on top, the Buffaloes have released a cinematic highlight of their game with Nebraska. The video posted by Buffaloes’ Twitter handle catches the build-up, fans’ excitement, snaps of the game, and moments from the dugout. “We are winning, but we are not dominating”, Sanders can be seen being critical to his team at halftime.

So far, Coach Prime has been true to his words. The Buffaloes have produced the performances that fans would expect. With the backing of Sanders, the spirit is now at an all-time high at Boulder. Buffaloes have only won one NCAA Football Championship to date and there hasn’t been a better time to level things up. The stage is set for them, and the call for glory has never been louder.
Buffaloes will take on neighbor Colorado State Rams in the next game on 17 September. A win guarantees them a top spot at the Pac-12 table, and they wouldn’t want to settle for anything less. Only time will tell how the season goes for the Buffaloes. But for now, fans are over the moon.
