This would be a special Christmas for many in New York. With the entire region struggling with the onslaught of a strong blizzard, the days aren’t as smooth as they would have hoped for. The winter storm this year has proved to be quite a menace for many Americans, with frigid temperatures and an unreal amount of snowfall. While many airports had to cancel all flights, people’s Christmas plans also got ruined. Furthermore, the list also includes the name of four-time Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski as well.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers tight end was himself stuck in the blizzard. The 33-year-old flew to Buffalo, New York, in order to visit his father and see his brother’s kids. But his plan of jetting off to Connecticut to be with his long-time girlfriend, Camille Kostek, was disrupted by the blizzard. Instead, the former NFL star spent his days locked in the house he grew up in with his father. According to him, it was one of the worst blizzards he has ever seen.

“I came to Buffalo real quick to see my brother’s kids to see my dad,” added Gronk. “I was supposed to fly out Friday at 4:00 PM, a commercial flight. Guess what? The Blizzard hit Friday morning and I’m still locked inside of the house that I grew up in Buffalo, NY, with my father. So we’ve been locked inside for four days…. I have never seen a blizzard like this in my life it was 70 mph winds I’m hoping I can get out today but we will see,” Gronkowski added.

The 33-year-old still expects to get out of the area, hopefully catching a flight to meet up with Kostek and welcome the New Year together.
Tough conditions in Buffalo near Rob Gronkowski
According to the reports by CNN, the death toll in Buffalo due to the winter storm has risen to 27. While some happened due to exposure, some also occurred owing to natural causes. The Buffalo police commissioner has requested the people to stay inside their houses, where they are safe. As per the commissioner, they are still recovering bodies from around the area.
