Joe Burrow may currently be one of the leading MVP contenders in the NFL. However, there’s another list in the NFL where the Cincinnati Bengals‘ QB finds himself in the bottom spot. Few could have anticipated that Burrow, often seen as a rival to Patrick Mahomes, would hold such a dismal record.
In less than 30 hours, Burrow experienced both positive and negative news that the NFL had to offer. Just a day after signing one of the NFL’s most substantial contracts, he faced a significant setback in his statistics, culminating in a disheartening 3-24 loss to the Cleveland Browns. Moreover, this result added another embarrassing chapter to Burrow’s NFL history.

He has an embarrassing 1-5 record against them since Brown Bombers’ return to the NFL in 1999, following a hasty expansion of franchise and stadium issues. CBS Sports emphasized Burrow’s struggle with the Browns in an Instagram post, stating, “Joe Burrow just can’t figure out the Browns.”
This statement appears to hold, especially considering Burrow’s recent passing stats, which may not align with the expectations set by his latest significant contract with the Bengals.

As the NFL season kicks off and teams vie for victory, Joe Burrow must reassess his approach. It’s not just the Browns who’ve bested him; he’s struggled with his performance. Burrow’s recent game against the Browns saw him throw for a career-low 82 yards in a 24-3 loss, completing only 14 of 31 passes with no touchdowns or interceptions. His prior low was 148 yards in a Week 11 win against the Las Vegas Raiders in 2021.
This subpar performance raises questions, particularly in light of his record-breaking contract, averaging $55 million, surpassing previous records held by Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts. Burrow acknowledged his performance, stating, “Obviously, not up to our standard, not up to my standard,” after the game.

However, comparatively, Patrick Mahomes’ team, too, struggled as reigning champions, but Mahomes maintains a better record than Burrow against the Browns with a 2-0 tally. Consequently, Burrow needs to devise a winning strategy to bolster his MVP candidacy.
