Purdy has had a roller coaster of a story in his rookie year in the league. The highly touted QB surprisingly was drafted as the 262 draft pick, making him his draft class’s Mr. Irrelevant. However, through a series of events, Purdy got a chance to sling passes and call plays a lot earlier than one would’ve thought. After Jimmy G and Trey Lance got injured early on, the third-stringer rookie had to step in.

The rookie stepped in when there were 9 games left in the regular season. In those 9 games, he was able to throw the pigskin for an unreal 1,374 yards. Furthermore, he threw 13 touchdowns with only 4 interceptions and no fumbles. He was able to help his team make it to the Wild Card round. In the playoffs, Purdy played all three games, helping beat out the Seahawks as well as the Cowboys. Sadly, Purdy’s brilliant playoff run came to an end when the 49ers fell against the Eagles. During the playoffs, Purdy threw for 569 yards with 3 touchdowns and a clean record of no interceptions.

With his serious injury taking a turn for the positive, 49ers fans and the league alike are in anticipation over how well the QB performs in his second year.
