A message of admiration from Tom Brady
Brock Purdy led the Niners to a big 35-7 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. The game was a homecoming for Tom Brady, who grew up in the San Mateo area near Levi’s Stadium. But Brady could just be a spectator to a spectacular performance by the Niners’ rookie QB as he and his offense annihilated the 2020 champions. And the seven-time Super Bowl winner met with Purdy after the game and gave a word of encouragement.
“Good playing, my man. You played great. Keep it up. Keep going,” the 2000 draft sixth-rounder said to the 2022 draft seventh-rounder.
Brady had his whole family and neighborhood watching as a stubborn Niners defense shut him down in the first half. Even in the second half, the greatest QB in the NFL could score just one touchdown. But the rookie QB for the Niners showed the league what they would have missed if the San Francisco franchise hadn’t picked him in the last round of this year’s draft.
The Brock Purdy Show
Most of the world got ready to see another masterclass as the Buccaneers took on the Niners. But instead, what they got was even more special. It was the Brock Purdy show. Most NFL fans never heard his name before he took the field against the Miami Dolphins in week 13. He came in to relieve the injured Jimmy Garoppolo during the game and impressed everyone with his skills and throws. But it was against Tom Brady and the Buccaneers that the rookie really came to life.

The last pick of the 2022 NFL draft, also known as ‘Mr. Irrelevant’, threw 16 completions for 185 yards. He threw two passing touchdowns and also scored a rushing touchdown in the game. Considering he was up against the greatest QB of all time, the performance may be a precursor to something spectacular unfolding. And he has time as Garoppolo isn’t coming back anytime soon.
