Cleaveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson faces a new lawsuit. Filed in Harris County District Court, the lawsuit relates to events that occurred in December 2020. The league has provided reassurance of having the situation monitored.

This is the first lawsuit against Watson since his suspension from the league. Watson is currently serving an eleven-game suspension as ordered by the league.
The league’s take on Deshaun Watson’s situation
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stated that Watson has been compliant with the requirements that were set regarding suspension, treatment and evaluation. Goodell’s statement might confirm that Watson is guaranteed to come back to the league as per the stipulated date.

Recently, Watson made an appearance at the team facility for on-site rehab and meetings with other non-football staff. This appearance marks his preparation for his debut during Week 13 of the 2022 season. This was his first appearance since the NFL served him the suspension on August 30.
Group workouts, practices, games or other team events are off-limits for the quarterback. Although now, Watson can participate in individual workouts and meet one-on-one with the coaches.
Watson’s future in Cleveland

Currently, Watson has a guaranteed, five-year contract with the Cleveland Browns. The 230 million dollar contract also included a 44.965 million dollar signing bonus.
Traded to the Browns during the offseason, the twenty-seven-year-old quarterback is not permitted to join practice sessions until the 14th of November. Apart from that, the NFL asked Watson to pay a $5 million fine, alongside other mandatory requirements.

Watson has currently missed six games. He is set to return to the field after five more games during Week 13 when the Browns face the Texans. Watson will be reinstated on the 28th of November.
