Besides being the most prolific offensive partnership in the NFL right now, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce also form quite the comedic duo. This was on full display yesterday when the Chiefs visited the White House to celebrate the Super Bowl LVII victory at President Joe Biden’s invitation. The NFL world is quite well-versed in what happens when Travis Kelce gets on a microphone stand. And once again, the Chiefs Kingdom can thank their 2x Super Bowl MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes for rescuing his team from second-hand embarrassment.
Four months after the 2022-23 NFL Playoffs, the fans still can’t forget the memorable night in Kansas City when the Chiefs beat their bitter AFC rivals, the Cincinnati Bengals. And boy, did Travis Kelce have a thing or two to say. Well, not this time. And surely not with the POTUS present.

How Patrick Mahomes Saved the Day for the Chiefs Kingdom
The KC Chiefs showed up to the White House in style. They posed for pictures with the POTUS to celebrate their Lombardi win over the Philadelphia Eagles in February. This visit was extra special to the players. Andy Reid’s men previously missed their White House visit in 2020 after they claimed Super Bowl LIV. And Travis Kelce wanted to make up for the lost stage time.
Patrick Mahomes and Kelce posed with President Biden as they gave the POTUS his very own No 46 jersey. However, when Kelce saw Mahomes chatting it up with the President, in a conversation about the Lombardi Trophy, he tried sneaking away to do what he does best besides scoring touchdowns. Rile up fans with a fiery speech! However, Mahomes didn’t forget how it all went down the last time. And he made the all-vital interception before Kelce took the microphone.
“I’ve been waiting for this,” Kelce started before being hastily interrupted by QB1 Pat Mahomes. “Sorry, sorry,” Mahomes said after waving his hand. And the players and crowd erupted with chuckles and laughter.

This was not surprising as Travis Kelce is infamous for his celebration speeches. He ultimately took the gentleman’s route in front of President Biden, who acted disappointed when Kelce wasn’t allowed to speak.

However, the same cannot be said for the Mayor of Cincinnati.
Travis Kelce’s antics are still very fresh in everyone’s mind
When the Cincinnati Mayor took a shot at the Chiefs before their AFC Conference matchup this year, he may have taken it a bit too far with the ‘Burrowhead’ chants. TK87 didn’t forget that. “Know your role and shut your mouth, you Jabroni,” Kelce addressed the Mayor while lifting the Conference championship trophy.
More recently, Kelce’s on-stage shenanigans included drinking beer from the Lombardi Trophy and eventually spiking it in front of thousands of Chiefs fanatics during the opening night of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Surely, Mahomes thought it through when he did not let his trusted tight end get on the White House mic stand.

The duo has already made promises of another Lombardi next year. And maybe this time, if Kelce promised to behave himself, he may finally get the chance to get on the White House podium without any interruption.
