The stars were perfectly aligned for the Buffalo Bills. The New York Jets had lost their talisman and superstar QB, Aaron Rodgers, to injury early in the game. But instead of a crash landing for the Jets, Allen gifted them a 16-22 victory. His worst fear had come true. A repeat defeat at the hands of the Jets, similar to 2022.
Week 1 was a downer for two other star QBs – Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals. None of the three QBs managed to secure a victory for their teams in their Kickoff Week.
Josh Allen has no one to blame but himself

In the face-off between the Bills and the Jets, regulation time ended with 16-16. During the overtime, the Jets managed to clinch a 22-16 victory. With this overtime defeat, Josh Allen upped his overtime losing streak to 5.

In what would go down as one of his worst matches, this one saw three interceptions, five sacks, and one fumble. A dejected Allen spoke to reporters after the match and took full responsibility for letting down his team and Bills’ fans.
It appeared as if he mistook Jets’ Jordan Whitehead WR for his own teammate as Jordan intercepted all three of his passes. This also makes this game his second career game with four turnovers. However, for the Bills, it seemed like this had happened before.
Déjà vu moment for the Bills
Last year, playing the New York Jets at their home MetLife Stadium, the Bills suffered a 20-17 defeat. After the match, Josh Allen promised to work on his decision-making skills and do better next time. However, this was not to be. In the post-game interaction with reporters, he acknowledged this by saying, “Same s**t, same place, different day.”
