After Ryan Tannehill ruled himself out with an ankle injury for the rest of the season, the Tennessee Titans called for the services of Tennessee University quarterback Joshua Dobbs. And the former Pittsburgh Steelers and Lions QB had his first start against the Cowboys last night. However, his family and fans in the stands were in for some disappointment.

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Titans 27-13 in the Week 17 matchup. Dobbs landed in Nashville a month ago when the Titans signed him from the Detroit Lions practice squad. And yesterday, the 135th pick from the 2017 NFL Draft scored his first touchdown. However, Joshua’s parents went back home upset after the Titans lost. And NFL Twitter reacted to this heartbreaking picture.

Robert and Stephanie Dobbs traveled more than five hundred miles from Detroit to Nashville only to see their son lose to Dak Prescott and Co. in the Cowboys’ 12th win of the season. Fans reacted to the captured scenes from the Nissan Stadium. And some were pretty hilarious considering Dobbs’ aerospace engineering background with a 4.0 GPA in college.

Some fans stood by Joshua’s game performance, which wasn’t that bad considering he came from the practice squad. Dobbs had 239 passing yards with his 1 TD and 1 interception on a 51% throwing accuracy.

Joshua Dobbs fell prey to a situation where he didn’t have all the elements of the game under control. But, he did considerably better than third-string rookie quarterback Malik Willis, recording double of Malik’s combined 3-game passing yards in two fewer games. And considering Tannehill’s problem with blowing double-digit leads, Dobbs looks like the QB for the Titans. However, Joshua’s Tennessee University quarterbacking reputation received a few hits when three of his offensive drives ended up in two field goals and one interception.

Joshua threw his sole touchdown pass to Robert Woods and made his parents proud in the stands. Robert and Stephanie’s unwavering support paid off with what many think was a cementing performance. Dobbs will surely start the crucial divisional title game next week against the Jacksonville Jaguars after last night’s more-than-average display. And Joshua handled the Cowboys’ defense without the help of Titans’ star running back Derrick Henry, who was out for the game with a hip injury.

A 4.0 GPA grad, Joshua has always treated the NFL like algebra. And his ever NFL start after six seasons felt like finally being able to pass the test. “You prepare, you do all the homework on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. You go through the process, do the extra work, go to after-hours. Then Friday comes and you just don’t take the test,” Dobbs had recently said about never starting a game. And Joshua put a checkmark against that milestone last night.
