The time of former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, Colin Kaepernick, has come to an end. Kaepernick opted out of his contract in 2017 and became a free agent. Since then, there has been a good deal of news that talked about several teams who were interested in Kaep. However, nothing came of the news. In fact, even the 49ers moved on from the superstar quarterback.

In a report, a top new free agent will adorn the best-selling No.7  jersey of Colin Kaepernick. Charvarius Ward, the cornerback of the San Francisco 49ers, will swap his jersey from No. 35 that he received upon his arrival on the team.

Colin Kaepernick became the starting QB of the 49ers in the mid of 2011. They selected the prolific passer in the second round. He played six seasons with San Francisco.

When Alex Smith, the starting QB of the 49ers, suffered a concussion in the 2012 season, the HC, Jim Harbaugh, wanted Kaepernick to become the leading passer. He became the lead shot caller of the team two weeks after his 25th birthday.

With the help of the gridironer, the team finished with an 11-4-1 record. It was the first time in 18 years that the 49ers advanced to the Super Bowl.

Although he achieved remarkable success in his NFL career, it was all overshadowed because of his protests. In the 2016 preseason, he took to protest against racial injustice and police violence. Many criticized his stance, and it also displeased many that the passer did not stand for the national anthem. The protest made headlines and invoked reactions from supporters and critics alike.

Later, in 2019, Kaepernick received an invitation to the league’s private workouts in front of representatives of all 32 teams. However, after a change of venue, only eight representatives witnessed the workout. And they made no offers. Then, in 2020, the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell, let out an apology to Colin Kaepernick after the racial tension and many criticisms that the QB remains unsigned. Goodell even encouraged teams to look into hiring him.
