A dump truck fatally hit the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, on Saturday. As a result, he was gravely injured, leading to his on-the-spot demise. ESPN’s NFL insider was first to inform the news; however, he posted an insensitive tweet, leading the fans to go mad at him.
The former Ohio University star was just 24 when he kneeled in front of the death. The news went like a wildfire, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter instantly tweeted regarding Haskins’s death. However, he is now begging for his insensitive remarks about the late star and apologized to the bereaved family members & fans.

Adam Schefter apologizes for his remarks
Indeed, Dwayne Haskins is one of the emerging talents in the NFL who was gearing up to play for his fourth season. But fate had something else destined for him. On Saturday Morning at around 6:30 am local time, the QB was walking on a limited access facility (Highway/expressway) for unknown reasons. He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic.
Unfortunately, he collided with an oncoming dump truck and was declared dead on the spot. Reporting the news at its earliest, Schefter tweeted about the incident, however including a clause, “struggling to catch on” which had irked many fans. The Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was among the initial ones to go mad at Schefter and verbally lashed him through Twitter.

Just minutes after the tweet got posted, Schefter must have realized the gravitas of his tweet. He removed the tweet later on and posted an apology on his podcast on Monday. “It was insensitive,” Schefter said.

“It was a mistake, and I can assure you it was not my intention. I wish I could have that tweet back. The focus should have been on Dwayne — who he was as a person, a husband, a friend, and so much more.” Schefter added to his message.
He formally apologized for his actions and offered his condolences to the bereaved family. “I wanted to apologize to Dwayne’s family, his friends, the players in the NFL, and offer my condolences to everybody close to Dwayne,” Schefter said.
Dwayne Haskins was an emerging star

Haskins was a star player during his college days. He piled up records for Ohio State, including single-season passing yards (4,831), touchdown passes (50), and total offensive yards (4,939). He led the Buckeyes to a 13-1 record and a win in the Rose Bowl. Moreover, Haskins also finished third in voting for the Heisman Trophy, the highest honor bestowed upon a footballer at the university level.
After showcasing exceptional gameplay for the Ohio State University’s football team, Haskins got selected by the Washington Redskins. He was the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft but struggled to live up to the expectations. He played 16 games across two seasons for Washington, compiling a 3-10 record in 13 starts.

Soon, the Redskins released him in December 2020. For a young QB like Haskins, it was a pool of opportunities for him to explore. After a month of his release, the Pittsburgh Steelers signed him. But he didn’t get an opportunity to feature in the regular-season game for the Steelers. He was the third-string substitute behind the former QB Ben Roethlisberger and backup Mason Rudolph.
