Can Kansas City Chiefs fans finally heave a sigh of relief? Or will their anxiety continue with just a few days left for the showdown with the Miami Dolphins in Germany? The 2x SB MVP had been battling the flu during his game against the Denver Broncos, which the Chiefs lost 24-9. That was their first loss to the Broncos in 8 years. Miami, however, has been leading with 17 wins in the 31 games that they have played so far. Will they add another one to their list on Sunday?

The Dolphins aren’t looking good either, with one of their main offensive weapons doubtful to return to the gridiron. If they lose this match, they will even the score with the Chiefs at 17-17.

According to the injury report, the Chiefs are also looking to open WR Richie James’ 21-day window to return from injured reserve. He had been out since the Chiefs’ second game due to an MCL injury. RB Jerick McKinnon and LB Willie Gay skipped practice on Wednesday due to groin and lower back injuries, respectively. There are 7 other players listed on the injury report, but almost all of them saw full participation during the practice session. So do things look gloomy for the Dolphins?

Dolphins team weakened by multiple injuries

The second practice session of the week brought good news for the Dolphins, as

Raheem Mostert was back at practice. He had been out due to an ankle injury and was reported as traveling with the team to Germany ahead of their Sunday Night Live game. But there are chances that he will be running behind a patchy offensive line as key players remain weakened by injuries.

TE Durham Smythe (ankle) skipped practice on Wednesday but returned on Thursday. Similarly, Terron Armstead who had missed the last four games due to an ankle injury, was back as well. Robert Hunt was still in rehab for his hamstring injury. This spells doom for the Dolphins who will be without both guards against the Chiefs’ defense.

Armstead’s return from the Injured Reserve means he can practice for up to 21 days before the Dolphins have to deactivate him on leaving him IR for the remainder of the season, according to NFL protocol. The Dolphins using every card they have and their willingness to risk Armstead shows just how much of an uphill battle they have to fight against the Chiefs. Will the Dolphins’ bets pay off?
