It was 25th July 2024, when Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, sounded confident of success this season. “We got it resolved like I wanted” per Jerry. But, it seems like he was missing his team itself in his statement as there is no ‘I’ in the word ‘Team’. He further said that the Cowboys are ready to contend for the coming Super Bowl and he was ‘all in‘ for his team, but it looks like things might not be okay inside Dallas as it might seem from his words. Well, an NFL analyst, Kyle Brandt, came up with his thoughts on X.
“Here we go guys, we are Disney, we are the biggest corporation ever with the Imagineers and all that, and we are giving you Toy Story 5!“, said Kyle on his 12th Augusts’ X video post. Well, you might already know that Disney comes up with a sequel to Toy Story every 2 to 3 years but fails to make a better box office often. Lightyear was unable to reach even half the box office amount of Toy Story 4.

And to everyone’s surprise, the analyst further said, “The Cowboys are now giving us another Toy Story. What else they have given us, Incredibles 3!, the sequels, you are giving us another Tron movie? No one cares about the last Tron movie”. It looks like this type of sequel was something that the analyst didn’t like as he said more.” Remember when you came up with the original Toy Story? That was awesome. Remember when you came up with an original football team that didn’t have all these BS? That was awesome,” said the analyst. And he’s not wrong as the Cowboys have won 5 out of 8 Lombardi trophies they have appeared in, Super Bowl XXX being their last. But what exactly lead to the analyst’s hilarious comparison between a movie and a football team?
It looks like it had something to do with the contract situation of CeeDee Lamb, “The star wide receiver is literally laughing at the owner online,”. And why did Lamb laugh at Jones? Well, the Cowboys’ owner didn’t see much ‘urgency‘ when it comes to the extension of CeeDee Lamb’s contract, ‘I don’t have any urgency to get it done.’ per Jon Machota‘s post on X. Lamb is already in his final year of the contract that was set to pay him $17.99 million this season. With no clear takes from Jones, Lamb clapped back with a ‘LOL’ reaction to his owner’s words on his contract extension. Lamb’s fourth-season league record boasts of 135 receptions and 1749 yards.
However, it seems like Lamb’s contract extension was not the only one where Jerry didn’t have any clear take.

One anonymous NFL executive said, “Dak Prescott has the Cowboys over a barrel.” And why so? Well, Prescott’s current deal totals a $55.4 million cap hit, and with Jones overlooking his extension, he might end up as a free agent that might give him more leverages on negotiations, “Prescott’s four-year deal, combined with the inevitable cap restructures…gave him extraordinary leverage” per Brian Robinson. But Jones doesn’t seem to have any clear take, “We have to think around the corner about future year”.
This is not the first time Jerry has upset a player during negotiations. In 2019, his famous words “Zeke who” on Ezekiel Elliott’s holdout, brought the player into a similar situation as Dak and CeeDee Lamb. Moreover, Micah Parsons is also in the 4 year of his rookie deal and will also be in a similar spot as Dak and Lamb in 2025. With his Defensive Player of the Year caliber campaign, locking up with Micah Parsons is crucial for Jones too.
