Super Bowl champion and star QB Patrick Mahomes is following the footsteps of legends such as Michael Jordan and Alex Rodriguez. Mahomes already amassed $500 million, making him one of the richest athletes in the world. According to the 27-year-old QB, he is trying to build an empire off the field in every way. He said he observed a lot of athletes who came before him and how they built their empires off the field.

Mahomes made his business empire ambitions clear in an interview with Yahoo Finance Presents.I am trying to build an empire off the field in every way. I watch a lot of the great athletes that came before me and they found ways to build their empire and to build themselves up off the field, so I am trying to do that as much as possible,” he said. 

Patrick Mahomes is building his mega empire

Interestingly, Mahomes’ role model Jordan became a billionaire only after a long playing career, while PM15 achieved it in his sixth year. Mahomes’ another admirer, Alex Rodriguez, nicknamed A-Rod currently has a net worth of $350 million. The former professional baseball superstar is the chairman and CEO of A-Rod corp. He also invests in New York apartment building.

In 2020, Mahomes signed a record $503 million contract for ten years. Soon, he purchased a minority stake in Kansas City Royals. Later on, the Chiefs’ superstar invested in a stake in a wearable device company, named Whoop. The rising talent has endorsement deals with Adidas, Airshare, Hyperice and BioSteel. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Patrick Mahomes has a net worth of $40 million, which makes him one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. He started his career by signing a four-year deal with the Chiefs in 2017 for $16.2 million.

Mahomes talks about his business lessons

In the interview, PM15 admitted that he learned a great deal from his business failures. He pointed out the contribution of his financial advisors while adding up his stock of investments.

The Grim Reaper concedes that all his investments are not great successes. However, he is driven by passion. “The biggest thing is to do the stuff you love and you have a passion for because if you do that, you usually figure out a way to make it work,” Mahomes concluded.
