Known for her roles in movies like The Princess Diaries, The Devil Wears Prada, Les Misérables, and The Intern, fans may not be aware that the multifaceted actress is also a die-hard football fan.
While featuring on the ‘Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ in 2015, the actress gushed about her love for football. She even mentioned the quarterback Eli Manning.
Hathaway’s love for football, and the Giants, was almost palpable through the excitement in her voice and her defensive demeanor while talking about her team’s performance.
Anne Hathaway is a die-hard New York Giants fan
When asked about how the Giants were doing that season, the actress feigned innocence and stated that they were doing great, despite the reality of the team having a bad start to the season.
After a pointed pause, she said, “We’re doing fine,” while the host, Jimmy Fallon and the audience laughed at the actress’ playfully offended look.
But Hathaway was quick to retort. “You know what this season reminds me of?” she rhetorically asked. “This season reminds me of the 2007 season when we started 0-2 and wound up with a ring. It is one you Eli [Manning], on you! Take it home buddy,” she added.
The actress also mentioned the fact that she was hooked on fantasy football and keeps up with all the games. She was asked whether she had watched the Sunday Night game and its scheduling clash with the Emmy Awards. Hathway said she was flipping back and forth to keep tabs on her fantasy quarterback. The actress’ fantasy quarterback who was also playing that weekend was none other than Aaron Rodgers.
