The Aaron Rodgers trade deal has seen many ups and downs. Anytime it looks to be in the endzone, the deal seems to hit another wall. The New York Jets want to complete the trade as soon as possible so that they go to the next season fully prepared. But according to a report, the D-Day worries are creeping in for the Jets on their way to get their prime target.
It is an open secret that the Jets want Rodgers to break their playoff appearance curse. But the deal with the Green Bay Packers hasn’t been easy. Now, according to an NFL insider, there is a soft deadline for the deal to get it done quickly.

The Aaron Rodgers trade update
After months of negotiations and a back-and-forth, the Jets and the Packers might have reached a peace agreement amid draft weekend worries. According to a report by NFL insider Adam Schefter, quoted on Colin Cowherd’s show, both the franchises have a silent agreement on a soft deadline for the deal to happen quickly.
“According to a credible report, there is a soft deadline of day two in the draft for a Rodgers trade. The Jets have a 42nd and 43rd pick in the second round. And if Rodgers is not traded before the Jets make those picks, it sounds like, based on this report by Schefter, that it could be a long time before he’s traded,” the fans heard on ‘The Herd’.The Jets might not get their QB target before June if they don’t agree on what the Packers want in the deal. That, according to Cowherd, won’t be good news for the New York franchise.

The Packers are adamant
Green Bay look set to lose their future Hall of Famer QB. Aaron Rodgers has already stated that he wants to play for the Jets. So, the Packers want a hefty compensation in the deal. According to reports, the Packers want a second-round draft pick for this year and a first-round pick for the next. And therein lies the problem.
The Jets reportedly are reluctant to give up their first-round pick as of yet. They want to send a conditional pick to Lambeau Field next season. It will turn into a first-round pick if Rodgers returns to MetLife Stadium in the 2024 season. That is the holdup, according to multiple reports.
