The Packers won’t let Aaron Rodgers go to the Jets without what they think is apt compensation for their future Hall of Famer. According to Yahoo Sports’ Charles Robinson, the Green Bay franchise wants a straight first-round pick for the next year along with a second-round pick this time around.
“Green Bay is stuck on the asking price of a two this year, a straight shot one next year so no graduation schedule attached to it,” Robinson said on ESPN’s’ Wilde and Tausch show. The Packers are ready for some sort of draft competition arrangement if Rodgers ends up not playing in 2024. But Robinson also clarified that the Jets aren’t ready to give away their first-round draft pick. Especially after seeing the Denver Broncos fate after doing so.
The new update comes amid the dragging negotiations even a month after the QB said that he would like to play for the Jets. And according to other reports, both franchises are digging in their feet to see what happens so the deal has gone totally silent.

The drama around the trade
Aaron Rodgers hinted towards the end of the 2022 regular season that he wants to move away from Lambeau Field. After the season was over, he even went to a darkness retreat that, according to him, helped in making up his mind. But ever since he has made up his mind, the deal is dragging on.
While some reports suggest that both teams are waiting to see who blinks first, the Jets GM Joe Douglas seemed confident of it going through. The Jets want to build a team to end their playoff drought that has been going on since the 2010 season. And for that, they want Rodgers to lead the team.
