While the Green Bay Packers signed Aaron Rodgers to a 3 year $150 million deal last season only, there are now talks of a possible trade. The 39-year-old has been one of the best QBs in the NFL for the better of the past two decades. However, his form was not at the levels formerly set by the player. But, his back-to-back MVP seasons in 2020 and 2021 serve as a reminder that he is still an elite pass thrower even with father time now working against him.
After a disappointing end to the season, there have been multiple reports of a potential move away for A-Rod. With two years still remaining on his current deal, the team will have a great influence on his next destination. That is if the player does come back for another season. The Packers, on the other hand, are not completely against the idea. But they do have a condition attached.

According to NFL reporter Dov Kleiman, Packers would not agree to a trade which would see A-Rod staying in the same conference. This means that no NFC team will be getting their hands on the player, making life easier for the AFC teams, who would have an exclusive pathway to acquire the reigning MVP.

With the QB not getting any younger, this would be high time to consider leaving Wisconsin in search of some silverware. For the team, a trade would ensure that they receive some value for the outgoing player. And with his reputation, they can expect to get quite a lot in return. A trade would help them kick-start their rebuild and usher in the next era.

The war chest of draft picks traded for the Super Bowl winner helped the team to place themselves in a good position by adding young and exciting talents to their ranks. The Packers could be hoping for something similar.
Will A-Rod return for another year?
For the third consecutive offseason, the QB will be evaluating his options before coming back. Even a retirement could be on the cards for the 39-year-old, who missed the playoffs after losing a game to the Detroit Lions in the last week of the regular season.
