Remember when Tom Brady joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020? After leading the New England Patriots to six Super Bowl championships, the QB joined the Bucs and played for three seasons. When the 7X SB champ initially joined the team, the Bucs did not make it to the playoffs since 2007. But Tom Brady led them to glory and won the Super Bowl championships in his debut season for the team. Now, just like the NFL GOAT, Aaron Rodgers is also gearing up for his debut with the New York Jets after playing his whole life for the Green Bay Packers.

Is there a similarity between the story of Rodgers and Brady? According to Brady’s ex-teammate Rob Gronkowski, both storylines are similar to each other. However, Aaron Rodgers holds a slight advantage over Brady in his debut season for a new team.

Earlier this year, the 4X MVP signed with the Jets. And now, fans are eagerly waiting in anticipation to see Aaron Rodgers make his Big Apple debut. And the former TE believes that the 39-year-old is set for an experience similar to the one Tom Brady had during his Buccaneers debut.

During a recent interview with Kay Adams, Rob Gronkowski stated that the Jets are competing in the “hardest division in football this year.”  He then went on to talk about how the situation is similar to when the 7X SB champion went to Tampa Bay. Gronkowski stated how the Jets are also looking to end their 12-year postseason drought this year with Aaron Rodgers, similar to how Brady led the Bucs to their first postseason victory since 2002. The 34-year-old former TE then talked about both the teams having a strong defense and an improving offense. He further went on to talk about how Brady was traded during the pandemic, whereas Aaron Rodgers has an advantage of building chemistry and cohesion with his new team this offseason, which puts him in a better place over the NFL GOAT.

Rodgers taking one for the team just like the NFL GOAT

Apart from his pinpoint passing, Tom Brady was known for taking team-friendly deals. This enabled him to be surrounded by exceptional talents on the field and also save cap space for his team. Similarly, Aaron Rodgers recently announced that he has finally reworked his contract with the Jets. Originally, the 39-year-old was guaranteed around $110 million, which was remaining on his previous contract with the Packers. But now, the QB is taking a significant pay cut, which also hints that he is planning on staying more than one season in New York. According to the revised contract, Aaron Rodgers now has a two-year $75 million deal in place. This gives the Jets more financial freedom, as they will continue to build a strong team around their new QB1.
