The Payton-Jets cold war continues to sizzle. The feud was sparked when Sean Payton blasted Nathaniel Hackett, the current offensive coordinator of the New York Jets, chalking the lacking season of the Broncos to the “worst coaching” of the latter. Payton’s harsh words obviously did not sit well with the green gang who rushed to defend their coordinator.

Aaron Rodgers did not hold back when he extended his support to Hackett, who cherishes a bond with the coordinator forged during their time together in Green Bay. As Rodgers slammed the ‘insecurity’ of the Broncos‘ head coach, the Jets coach Robert Saleh and Offensive tackle Billy Turner also followed suit. Just when one thought the feud was subsiding, another from the Green gang delivered a fresh blow.

Garrett Wilson instantly took the internet by storm as he casually turned up at the Preseason opener of the Jets against the Panthers. The meticulously choreographed ensemble of Wilson was everything against the prescribed set of rules for the players laid out by Payton ahead of the preseason.

“I don’t want to see uniforms off after we are done playing, sunglasses on and Gilligan hats on, interviews during the game. That’s what I don’t want to see, but we will communicate all of that,” Payton had instructed the Broncos.

Wilson ticked every box as he donned a bucket hat, and sunglass, gave a mid-game interview, and also removed his uniform as he left the field. It’s not certain, that was an intentional rib at Payton, nonetheless one of the powerful strikes at Payton in the ongoing feud.

Green gang presents a united front

The Jets was swift to defend Hackett shortly after Payton’s scathing remarks against the latter. Aaron Rodgers retorted  defending his close companion, It made me feel that bad that someone (Payton) who’s accomplished a lot in the league is that insecure that they have to take another man down to set themselves up for some sort of easy fall if it doesn’t go well for that team this year,”
