Green Bay Packers shocked the NFL nearly a month ago when they drafted Jordan Love despite having Aaron Rodgers on their side. They made the NFC Championship game in 2019 and pre-draft projections had the team going for a wide receiver. However, this was not the case.
Ever since then, there has been intense speculation on what the 2 time NFL MVP makes of the move. Now he has finally broken his silence. Rodgers says he wasn’t thrilled by the pick, but “he understands.” The Super Bowl XLV MVP elaborated on the polarizing draft pick with a really thought-provoking choice of words.

SiriusXM’s Liz Gonzales said Rodgers’ reply to one question cut her deep. This was posed by ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Thanks @RobDemovsky for asking Rodgers the question whose answer cut me deep: "It was more the surprise of the pick based on my own feelings of wanting to play into my 40s… My desire to start & finish w/the organization may not be a reality at this point."

Rodgers said, “I think it was more the surprise of the pick, based on my own feelings of wanting to play into my 40s, and really the realization that it does change the controllables a little bit. Because as much as I feel confident in my abilities and what I can accomplish and what we can accomplish.”
“There are some new factors that are out of my control. And so my sincere desire to start and finish with the same organization, just as it has with many other players over the years, may not be a reality at this point.”
Rodgers’ words seem to show that he too is aware of his stats dropping. He knows that he must now perform or there is a ready-made replacement waiting for a chance to make his NFL bow.
However, his words of “I understand” are clear proof that he will do what’s needed for the team. As per Dan Graziano, this is exactly what the executives at Lambeau Field were hoping for.

However, his words here have deep significance. Now, fans will entertain the thought of Rodgers moving away from ‘the Green and Gold’ to remain a starter. There will be no shortage of suitors if and when he does, but they too will have understood one thing from this conversation. Aaron Rodgers is doubting himself with the arrival of a young replacement to his throne.
Do you see Aaron Rodgers playing out the remaining 2 years of his 4-year extension signed in 2018? If yes do you see him extending his stay with the Green Bay Packers? Or will he give up on his dream of wanting “to start and finish at the same place” and find a new home to play regular football?
