Wherever Aaron Rodgers goes, chaos is meant to follow close behind. Part and parcel of life alongside the legendary QB, is dealing with the added media coverage and chaos that his presence brings to a team. Just ask the Jets’ veteran starting Center.
Connor McGovern was signed just prior to the Jets pulling the trigger on the monumental Aaron Rodgers trade from the Packers. Although McGovern’s return to the team may have been overshadowed, the 10th-ranked Center by Pro Football Focus last season will surely play a big role in his leadership. Connor McGovern made an appearance on the Underdog Talk podcast on Youtube this week. The Center went over an array of options for the Jets’ future, but perhaps the most important was his warning to the youth of the Jets roster. He cautioned them against falling into a trap of complacency, simply because they now have Rodgers at the helm.
As McGovern noted in the interview, “This year obviously holds a ton of promise, and you know, I just hope none of the young guys fall into the trap of – you know, we’re still gonna have to go earn it. Aaron Rodgers gets to work with new roster
Aaron Rodgers is certainly loving the air up in New York City. The QB spent no time embracing the Big Apple with his stardom. Courtside at Knicks games, getting involved in the midst of celebrity feuds, the Hall of Famer has seen it all. But his focus off the field has been equally eagle-eyed.
His new teammates on the Jets have been gushing over the presence and addition of Rodgers’ expertise and surreal work ethic within his first week. Soon after his trade to the Jets got finalized, Rodgers wasted no time getting to work and joining the Jets team practices. With Rodgers now on board, the Jets team has undoubtedly received a significant boost, but that doesn’t mean they can rest on their laurels. As McGovern noted, they still have to earn their victories, and they can’t afford to underestimate any opponents. In the evergreen words of Kobe Bryant – “Job’s not done yet.”
