Aaron Rodgers intention to join the New York Jets has had the NFL world on the edge of its seats. However, the trade between the Green Bay Packers and the Jets appears to be stalled. The Jets have been using free agency to build an offensive roster around the possible arrival of the four-time MVP. But as time goes by and with the deadline slowly approaching, fans are yet to witness a proper decision made by both teams in terms of the trade.
The negotiations suffered yet another massive setback. Recently, the Packers have made a sudden change in their decision for the negotiations, further leaving an air of mystery surrounding the A-Rod saga.

Packers change their mind in terms of the Aaron Rodgers trade
Initially, the Packers were looking for a first-round no.13 overall pick in 2023. And furthermore, if A-Rod decided to play another year for the Jets, they wanted another pick in 2025. But in recent developments, the Packers have made a sudden change to the stance of their wants in the negotiations. They are now backing off from their demand of a no.13 pick in the 2023 draft for the trade of Rodgers.

This puts a back gear on all the developments that have been going on in the A-Rod drama. The situation looks clear from an outsider’s perspective. Either the veteran QB moves on with the Jets, or if not, remains at his home ground in Green Bay. And if both of them do not look like routes that could lead to fruition, retirement is not a bad option for the 39-year-old Packers legend.

But the Jets looked like they want A-Rod to come and join the roster for the 2023 season. They have been using the trade window to restructure their team around the veteran QB. Even if the trade does not go through, they have Zach Wilson as their QB1 for the upcoming season. But his dismal performance last season does not build a lot of confidence in the minds of the coaches to consider him for a starting role.

Will there be a proper conclusion to the A-Rod drama?
The situation around Aaron Rodgers is still very unclear about a final verdict to be made. The Jets recently signed his teammate Allen Lazard from the Packers. Lazard claims he is not overly concerned with A-Rod not following him to the Jets, which was part of his incentive for leaving the Packers. Apart from this, Nathaniel Hackett will also be happy if his former players reunite at their new base with the Jets.
For the time being, the ball is still in the court of the Packers. While it may seem like the final chapter is within arm’s reach, fans might have to wait for a while to see how it all turns out in the end for the teams and Rodgers. With how things are shaping up, do you think retirement is in the books for the 39-year-old? Let us know in the comments below.
