The extent of injury to Aaron Rodgers
Dr. Jesse Morse, a sports medicine physician based in Miami, examined the extent of the injury sustained by Aaron Rodgers. In his podcast, ‘The Fantasy Doctors’, Dr. Morse explained what exactly is an oblique muscle injury that caused Rodgers to leave the play against the Eagles.
“The oblique muscles are the muscles on each side of the abdomen. There is an external layer on the outside, there is an internal layer inside that are attached to the ribs. Now these are very strong and thick, and these are responsible for your twisting,” Dr. Morse explained.
“So, what happens traditionally is that when you have repetitive throwing from the right side, the left oblique muscles are weaker. And they cannot handle the snapping back over and over again,” the sports physician added.
He also gave a timeline of Rodgers’ return to the field. Dr. Morse said that the oblique muscle injury is not something Rodgers can play through. According to him, the Packers QB will be out for a couple of weeks. That will not come as good news for all the Rodgers and Packers fans out there. The franchise has listed him questionable to return for next week.
The Packers lose again
Green Bay snapped out of a five-game losing streak with a win over the Dallas Cowboys. Many thought that the team would pick up the pace from there to mount a late charge for a place in the playoffs. That was two games ago. Since then, the Packers have lost both their subsequent games, rendering them all but out of the playoffs race. It is still mathematically possible for them, but they will need a lot going in their favor. Looking at the current season, that would be a big task.

The Aaron Rodgers injury is like salt in the wounds for the team. But it can quickly become a blessing in disguise if his backup, Jordan Love, can pick up from where he left off against the Eagles. The Packers’ backup QB scored a touchdown for the team and led a late rally to try and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Maybe he can dominate when he takes the field in the absence of Rodgers.
