During the Green Bay Packers shareholders’ meeting, President Mark Murphy confirmed that Aaron Rodgers‘ jersey retirement will happen “at the appropriate time.” However, Rodgers has already passed the torch to his much-deserving successor as he begins his new journey with the New York Jets. But again, the athlete did not forget to leave a heartfelt message for his former teammate.

While Rodger awaits his retirement, his positive gesture for the Packers’ #10 QB also speaks a lot about him as a person. This comes in sharp contrast to a similar situation Rodgers faced since the Packers selected him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.

Aaron Rodgers sent a rather inspirational message to Jordan Love before the #10QB started training camp with the Green Bay Packers, passing on the responsibility in a manner Brett Favre didn’t. He told his successor to make the 2023 journey worthwhile while asking him to remain himself, have fun, and enjoy the experience.

Per ESPN NFL, Aaron Rodgers sent a message to Jordan Love on the eve of training camp, stating: “Be yourself, have fun, and enjoy it.” This moment is a reminder of the 2008 instance when the Packers replaced Brett Favre with Rodgers. While Favre didn’t connect with Rodgers back then, the New York Jets QB didn’t hesitate to display his adoration for his successor.

Favre was 35 when the Packers picked a then-21-year-old Rodgers. Now, at 39, Rodgers has 24-year-old Jordan Love as his backup, but their chemistry is entirely different.

Aaron Rodgers is a hit for the Jets!

Aaron Rodgers knows what it’s like to be a young backup in front of a legendary quarterback. He faced this well when he joined the Packers in 2005 and had to wait behind Brett Favre for three years. Favre’s departure from Packers to New York Jets in 2008 marked the beginning of Rodgers’ NFL career. This happened 15 years ago, and while history repeats itself, Aaron and Love are an entirely different affair.

However, the 4x NFL MVP previously revealed that he learned a lot from Favre, whether good or bad, and wants to use those lessons to help Love. According to Rodgers, he has always been friendly and supportive of his backups, and he enjoys teaching and mentoring them. Well, that’s some true sportsmanship there.

The frosty relationship between Aaron and Favre certainly improved over the years. After Rodgers’ recent two-year $75 million contract with the Jets, Brett Favre said: “Aaron will do great!!!!” He sent a text message to ESPN’s Ed Werder. “He will handle the transition as well as anyone. He’s a very smart and instinctive person, on and off the field. In other words, you’re not going to catch him by surprise very often.”
