It seems the rookie has still got much more to learn to acquire the position of a true franchise quarterback. The Green Bay Packers entered the field with a young quarterback, Jordan Love, in the first preseason game on Friday Night.

In the brutal face-off, the San Francisco 49ers came out Victorious with a score of 28-21; however, it was Love’s performance that grabbed most of the National attention. The 23-year-old struggled to put up a hard fight by tossing three interceptions in the game.

Even though he did plenty of good things, mistakes are often held as a topic of discussion. Although it wasn’t an impressive performance, it is to be noted that Love doesn’t have enough regular-season experience.

The Utah product had a great start. He threw a 33-yard bullet for a touchdown at the hands of a rookie, Romeo Doubs. But suddenly, everything collapsed for the signal-caller, as he conceded three interceptions, two of which were caught by Samuel Womack, a fifth-round pick of the Niners.

This mistake helped the Niners bag 10 points and sustain a huge lead throughout the game. When a couple of seconds were left on the clock for a halftime whistle, Love racked up one more touchdown passing the ball 33-yards to Danny Davis towards the end zone.

The quarterback also showcased his mobility by running for 24 yards downfield. Being a potential prospect to replace Aaron Rodgers in the upcoming season, this performance may raise concerns over his competency. However, it should not be forgotten that this is just the beginning.

The 38-year-old quarterback believes that Jordan is facing a similar dilemma he once had while backing up for Brett Favre in 2005. While speaking to the reporters, Rodgers said, “I think all of us come along at our own pace. I needed the years to get to where I was at. Whether the criticism was equal in ’05, ’06, and ’07 for me as it was for him, I don’t know. Some of that you kinda move past as you’ve had success. But I’m excited for him this preseason”.

He also affirmed that a quarterback needs to prove himself on the field with strong fundamentals and consistency. And looking at the current scenario, he thinks the path towards success is no different than what he had a few years ago.
